Sharon Chinese Association (“SCA”) will host the second session of the Professional Development series open to all interested members and friends of SCA. The purposes of the series are to encourage networking among Sharon Chinese professional in all areas, as well as to provide career paths information to students entering colleges or workforce.
This session is focused on Math and Statistics.

Speaking:
Liming Liang – Liming is an Associate Professor of Statistical Genetics,Department of Epidemiology and Department of Biostatistics at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. His research group focuses on developing the computational and statistical tools required for understanding human genetic variation, with a particular focus on complex human disease.
Yanlai Chen – Yanlai Is an Associate Professor at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Professor Chen has been teaching a wide range of mathematics courses, advising students, and doing research in Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computing. He has made many important contributions in developing, analyzing, and applying numerical algorithms that are crucial to a wide range of problems in computational science. Yanlai received his PhD in Mathematics and MS in computer science from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in 2007.
Yan Liu – Yan Liu has been working with Liberty Mutual Insurance for eight years. She is a director in Personal Insurance Marketing Analytics team, where she was responsible for predictive models on direct marketing campaign and multi-media marketing tactics. Prior joining Marketing Analytics, she has worked for Commercial Market Product Research on pricing model development and implementation. Yan Liu holds a Ph.D. in Statistics from the Haslam College of Business of the University of Tennessee.
Dawei Liu – Dawei joined Biogen, a Pharmaceutical company, two years ago. Since then, he has been involved in research and drug development on ALS, a rare and fetal neurological disease of neuron degeneration and death. Dawei has also worked as a biostatistical researcher at Brown University and University of Iowa, with neurological diseases as his main area of research. Dawei holds a PhD in Biostatistics from University of Michigan
